
“Japan Creative Festival” at Podenhaus
1–25 November 2026 | Bad Aussee meets Japanese art and way of life
Ceramics, paper cutting and cork art, Japanese delicacies such as miso soup and roasted seaweed, traditional Japanese music – in November, the Podenhaus becomes a place of encounter and cultural exchange. The Austrian-Japanese host couple Gerhard Paradeiser and Juni Vojorna invite you to the first “Japan Creative Festival”, bringing Japanese culture to life.

Week 1: Ceramics exhibition by three artists: Masskatsu Aoki, Chikako and Yoko Tajima

Concert with Tsugaru shamisen player Masato Shibata
Masato Shibata, a young Tsugaru shamisen player, has won numerous prizes and awards in his home country. He has developed the sound of this traditional Japanese string instrument into a new form of expression by combining it with contemporary culture – crossing genres and borders and continually discovering new possibilities for this versatile instrument.

Your hosts
Gerhard Paradeiser & Juni Vojorna
Gerhard Paradeiser, a farmer from Fels am Wagram in Lower Austria and host at the Podenhaus, has a special passion for Japanese art and way of life. Juni Vojorna originally comes from Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan, where she studied painting. She will be on site throughout the exhibition period.
